About the RoleCIQUHP

We are seeking an experienced Air Quality consultant with strong analytical, reporting and business development skills to lead our air quality review and assessments programme. You will also work with our experts in other related areas, such as sustainable travel and vehicle emissions in line with project needs. The role would suit a capable and highly driven consultant with strong written and face to face presentation skills, and a credible background in environmental science and air quality modelling.

TRL delivers research and consultancy to Highways England, DfT, DVSA, Public Health England and private sector customers. We work on a wide portfolio of projects in various sectors. The work in the air quality and emissions sector ranges between analysing, reviewing and reporting air quality data, working with local authorities to develop action plans and wider research projects.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

Provide technical input for business development activities, including developing high quality expressions of interest and proposals.

Keep up-to-date on industry and market needs

Play an active role in making suggestions to deliver a strategy to sustain and grow the business within the air quality and emissions area of the portfolio

Take a leading role in Air quality monitoring data ratification and reporting, provide technical guidance and advice, influencing project direction and delivery

Build and maintain strong client relationships

Work closely with the Programme Management team to ensure delivery of outputs to time, cost and quality

Train and mentor junior team members to develop their air quality consultancy skills

Skills & Experience

Technical capability in the areas of Air Quality and Environmental related consultancy. Demonstrable technical leadership to include:

Demonstrable track record of providing technical project leadership, proposal & report authorship and customer engagement.

Authorship of high quality technical reports, including publications

Data analysis and modelling techniques

Experimental design and delivery

Modelling of Air Quality and vehicle emissions

Experienced in the development and pursuit of new business in a technical environment.

Track record in developing compelling bids and technical proposals.

Proven ability in customer relationship development.

Desirable

Understanding /practical experience of the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test (WLTP) and UK / EU emissions legislation.

Expertise / experience in related environment consultancy fields such as vehicle emissions, climate change or biodiversity etc.

Qualifications

A Degree (2:1 or above) in a related discipline.

Communication Requirements

Eligible candidates must be able to demonstrate fluency in both verbal and written English and polished presentation skills.
