Ongoing/Non-ongoing, Full-time/Part-time

$71,798 – $76,542 plus superannuation

Location: Canberra


We are seeking motivated and proactive individuals to provide high level administrative and executive support to senior executive officers and their respective teams. Positions are available in various work areas throughout the department. Successful officers may be expected to provide support to multiple senior executive staff. As such, you will possess excellent organisation and planning skills, the ability to multi-task, and communicate with a range of stakeholders.

The department supports flexible working arrangements, including part-time work and job sharing.

be highly organised – adept at managing multiple diaries and the reprioritisation of tasks to accommodate competing and changing priorities;

thrive in a fast paced, high volume environment, working with limited direction and supervision;

handle sensitive information with tact and discretion, maintain confidentiality and adhere to the APS Code of Conduct and values;

have experience as an Executive Assistant or have relevant skills that will help you succeed as an Executive Assistant.


Candidates must be Australian citizens.

The department requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 level clearance security clearance (or Baseline, Negative Vetting Level 1 or Positive Vetting (PV) where positions are designated as such in the DFAT Security Framework or PV organisational chart, respectively. Loss of a security clearance at any time may lead to termination of employment. Employment with the department can, however, commence on lower level clearances or without a clearance, in some circumstances, and the department will work with you to facilitate this if you are successful.

Depending on the role into which you are placed, you may also be required to obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People/Children registration (or equivalent).
