Job Description
Work Context:
Services Australia makes government services simple so people can get on with their lives. Our goal is to make it easier to engage with the services that Australians rely on.
To achieve this goal, we are transforming the way we work to deliver a simple, helpful, respectful and transparent experience for customers. Our frontline staff are the face and voice of Services Australia, providing the touch point between our customers and our systems, and using our reach and access to deliver integrated and connected services. As a leader in the agency, you will play a key role in driving this transformation.
Job description:
We are recruiting to fill positions at the Executive Level 1 in our Customer Service Delivery Group, Operations Management Division, Operational Planning Branch, Workload Management teams. These positions help the Australian Community by managing and improving the delivery of services through strong leadership, change management and innovative thinking.
The Operations Management Division supports customer service delivery with tools and strategies to enable consistent, efficient and effective service delivery. The division is responsible for supporting a range of strategic, workforce and emergency management initiatives in line with the agency Master Plan, the management of the Channel Operations Facility, and managing and supporting the Workload Management functionality.
The Operational Planning Branch supports service delivery and agency stakeholders on a range of strategic and operational workload, telephony, emergency and workforce matters.
Assistant Directors within the Division assist with the operational delivery and service delivery assurance of a range of programs administered by the agency. Assistant Directors also contribute significantly to relationship management with internal and external stakeholders, and to change management in the workplace. They work closely with other Executive Level staff to provide service delivery advice and operational support.
Assistant Directors work under the broad direction of the Executive Level 2 and National Manager to optimise the effectiveness of services in their area of responsibility. They exercise a considerable degree of independence, with decision-making substantially dependent on their high-level judgement and consideration of the wider agency implications.
An Assistant Director within the Operations Planning Branch must also be able to lead and manage program and/or service delivery staff, including overseeing the management of performance, attendance, health and well-being, and develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
Work Environment
Due to the size of the agency footprint Australia wide, it is not uncommon for staff members to work in virtual teams. This means that a person may be separated from their line manager or other team members. Where possible staff from the same Branch or Division are clustered for pastoral support.
