This is an exciting opportunity to join Scotland’s sole prosecution service in a fast paced and rewarding job role. Whether you have recently left school or are looking to develop your experience in HR administration this role will provide you with new challenges within a diverse team.


Job Role

HR Administrator – Band B

Location

Crown Office (Edinburgh)Options for homeworking/remote working may be possible – at present all HR members are working at home in line with COVID guidance. However, travel to Edinburgh on occasion may be required as well as a stable internet connection for joining regular conference calls.

Contract Terms

Around 37 hours, Fixed Term (initially 9 months) possibility of extension or permanency.

Starting Salary

Starting salary for each post at 37 Hours per week is £20,763 with the maximum salary on this scale being £22,217 (pay award pending). We offer an excellent range of benefits which include:

About COPFS

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of all crime in Scotland; the investigation of deaths which require further explanation; and the investigation of complaints against the police.

Job Description

This is an exciting entry level opportunity for those looking to be part of an interesting and fast paced role within Human Resources. You may be starting out in your career or already have an administrative background and looking for a change, but you should have an interest in HR.You will be expected to work as part of a team to provide a first-class service to your colleagues and service users such as, potential applicants, other employer organisations and colleagues within COPFS. The main duties will cover a range of administrative support, most of which would be regarding the specific HR team. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will gain experience across a number of these. Below is a list of typical responsibilities for each role:

HR Resourcing

Assisting with preparation and publication of job adverts

Processing mailbox queries

Supporting recruitment campaigns in all aspects

Applying a ‘customer focussed’ approach to engaging with potential candidates and board members

Maintaining intranet and external website Recruitment pages

HR Management Information

Carrying out monthly audit checks on staffing numbers

Verifying monthly absences with the business

Printing out staff passes and assisting with flexi queries

Assisting with ad-hoc data requests

Ensuring all data provided is accurate and reliable

HR Operations

Full Administrative duties required for the role, including Payroll and Absence processing

Providing advice and guidance to employees and Managers on HR Practice, systems and processes

Working closely with various departments, assisting both managers and staff to understand and implement HR policies and procedures

Advising on pay and other remuneration issues

Providing administrative support to the wider HR Team where required

Essential Criteria

The minimum entry qualifications are 5 National 5’s at grades A-C (including English) or equivalent; or demonstrable experience of general office work.

Sound knowledge of Microsoft application (in particular MS Word and MS Excel)

A desire to work within HR

Literacy and fluency in English

Desirable Criteria:
An understanding of the work of COPFS
