The key purpose of this role is:
To develop and support Supply Chain with their change management, communications and engagement programmes.

Be an Ambassador in supporting BT Supply Chain as a business to deliver superior customer service

To carry out duties as defined by the Transport Operations Manager

Interface with local LoB reps on customer service issues and assist with governance through audit, process and programme management.

Be responsible for the supervision of a number of activities within the Distribution operation using the BT Values: Personal, Simple and Brilliant

What you’ll be doing

The role holder will:
Be a leader, provide instruction and monitor the performance of the transport and yard operations

Drive a safe and secure working environment in line with BT’s Zero tolerance policy

Contribute towards the implementation of Supply Chain and LOB strategies.

Supervise the analysis of the Drivers Hours, Working Time Directive and tachographs; operating within the BT and Industry Health and Safety legislation Safety and Work Act.

TruTac (Drivers Point Scheme) actively monitor the Trutac system and debrief tool – these tools and system document clearly map out the points criteria, the escalation procedure that governs BTSC drivers and demonstrates a fair and consistent approach to non-compliant drivers who do not improve their performance in line with industry standard expectation via: https://www.trucontrol.co.uk/default.aspx

Day to day team management of all BT and agency staff within the distribution operation across different shifts and sites as operationally required

Create a culture which embraces continuous improvement through robust and effective performance management and engagement practices.

To undertake the team supervision of a number of people across one or more Supply Chain Sites, ensuring that support and guidance is available to team members on duty with work associated problems, when appropriate.

The assignment of work and organisation of the operation to ensure effective deployment of resources to achieve distribution “Grade of Service” and in line with budget.

To ensure BT complies with the statutory legislation with regards to BT’s Operator’s License.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers and internal business partners to ensure business benefits are delivered and meet operational needs.

Support the management team who have responsibility for maintaining all operating costs and managing within budget or better through effective resource management including transport planning, vehicles and people.

To be responsible for the supervision of the day to day operations taking into account all legislative changes.

Supporting the management team who will have responsibility for the achievement of LOB service SLAs.

Supporting the wider management team where applicable with regards to proactively taking forward the BT people management and performance agenda.

To coach and develop team members to the standard required to meet business targets

Assist your line manager by making an informal contribution to the appraisal and development of team members.

Ensuring that all statistical information is captured, accurate and is entered into the relevant systems

Maintain high levels of team engagement by holding regular team talks.

Ensure all drivers and yard team have the equipment to do their job and any issues are managed in line with process

Undertake any AMS & safety checks in line with BT Supply Chain’s annual Safety schedule

Champion processes within the operation and administer necessary changes through operational workshops

Flexibility towards working pattern and overtime to support operational needs and “Working Time Directive” rules

An understanding and ability to carry out all administration tasks within the transport operation as per job description

Ensuring SC processes are performed in accordance with the SC Process Handbooks, available via: https://intra.bt.com/bt/supplychain/community/Pages/SC-Handbooks.aspx

Approval of agency personnel weekly hours are approved on the Bluetrac system via: https://apps.bluearrow.co.uk/BlueTrac

Report any near miss events, personal or vehicle accidents via: https://intra.bt.com/bt/supplychain/community/Health_Safety/Pages/index.aspx

Ensure that all Fork lift training is kept current & up-to-date (where applicable)

Fork lift daily checks are completed & signed prior to use (where applicable)

PPE fit for purpose and worn at all times in line with local site requirements.

Ability to plan, organise, and identify solutions

CPC holder and up to date knowledge of driver’s hours and working time regulations

Competent in use of Supply Chain systems and processes.

Excellent communicator and well developed interpersonal skills.

Extensive knowledge of transport operations

Ability to supervise, motivate and influence teams to deliver business benefits.
