To deliver career development programmes of support and interventions to students and graduates to ensure that UON is above the median for graduates in high skilled roles (SOC1-3) or further study as reported in the Graduate Outcomes survey and raising the level of Graduate Employability as reported in the Graduate Outcomes survey.

The post holder will work at specified subject area level and provide services to individuals and groups via various mediums including face-to-face, telephone/Skype/online, and email guidance and workshops. You will work across the team to engage external stakeholders in development opportunities for students in securing employer input to activities and work collaboratively with colleagues across campus to support students’ professional development both during their time with us and as part of our lifelong careers service.

We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. About you

This will be a demanding yet rewarding opportunity for the successful candidate, giving the opportunity to provide a tailored careers offer to our students. You will have significant and recent experience delivering careers coaching information, advice and guidance work in industry or HE institution or have Graduate Recruitment experience. Alongside this you will have

experience of managing successful client/stakeholder relationships.

You will have up to date knowledge of the graduate labour market and its implications for graduate recruitment. In addition you will have a track record of working empathetically with students from diverse backgrounds to enable them to maximise their potential and you will be innovative with the ability to develop new approaches that work in addressing differential

graduate outcomes.

You will have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree/HND or equivalent
  • Qualification in educational and/or careers guidance, or relevant work experience, or experience in graduate recruitment
  • A qualification/experience in an appropriate, associated, occupational sector/industry

Enterprise and Employability

The Careers and Employability service is part of the Changemaker Hub which also comprises Changemaker, Schools Engagement, Business Support and Unitemps. Our graduate employability vision is to develop knowledgeable graduates, who are socially responsible, digitally proficient and highly employable global citizens – the Changemakers of the future.

To support this vision the post holder will work with specified Subject Level Areas across our three Faculties of Arts, Science & Technology, Business & Law and Health & Society in designing and delivering a tailored careers support offer that will provide our students with the skills, attributes and confidence they need to enter the graduate workplace. The delivery to students will be both on a 1-2-1 and 1-2- many basis.
