Ownership of Category strategy for Software (COTS, Cloud, Open Source) and possibly a team of category managers in partnership with business teams throughout AIG. This includes working with the teams to define and execute strategies in support of business priorities across a category’s complete life cycle. This will require managing a preferred supplier base (managing new emerging and exiting legacy non directional categories) along with assisting and driving standards of excellence where warranted. The lead will build cross functional teams to address key contract renewals, aligned with Category metrics to determine opportunities to improve value, maintain service while driving time frames aligned with various businesses and support groups. Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form strong partnerships with business leaders, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex priorities simultaneously. The Category Manager is an expert practitioner in the tools for creating competitive environments and has a strong bias for decision-making rooted in Sourcing, data and analytics. A CategoryManagerwill be an AIG or Industry expert in Technology, Services or related support. Primary Responsibilities

Develop a Category Strategy, in support of the businesses strategies that include comprehensive cost reduction opportunities, quality of service improvements, and innovation, for value.

Lead implementation of the Category Strategy, including localization of strategies

Ensure that the global Category Strategy is consistently deployed within individual business units by leading a teams business partners, analysts and/or collaborating with sourcing managers and other peers.

Either directly or through a matrix structure, manages teams of professional level employees responsible for performing sourcing tasks to carry out category and supply management tasks.

Establish strong relationships with internal business stakeholders; build a strong understanding of strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across assigned spend categories.

Conduct supply market analysis, cost modelling and bench-marking on sourcing engagements.

Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and bench-marking analysis.

Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, focusing on total cost of ownership.

Develop, implement and manage robust market analyses / bench-marking processes; leverage key insights to inform and support the category strategy development process.

Support cross functional teams throughout the sourcing, vendor management, negotiations, contracting and standards.

Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies and maintain procurement ethics in accordance with AIG’s global policies.
