About the Team

The Global Payments Strategy (GPS) Ops Readiness Team reports into the EMEA Payments Ops Executive, but is aligned to the Global Payments Strategy program which is responsible for Payments Transformation for Treasury Services. Modernising our Payments platforms by rolling out the new GPS payments architecture globally is core to our long-term strategy. GPS is ground breaking and challenging and is one of the most important programmes within the Corporate and Investment Bank at JP Morgan.

About the Position

Ops Readiness is a unique team within CIB which bridges the gap between the Ops Business Analysts and core Operations to ensure that the program delivers functionality and the right solutions to support the Operational Teams. Its focus is on the decommission of the legacy platforms, and migration to the new applications.

This key Operational readiness role involves (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities:

  • Provide scheme SME knowledge for Payments within the low value payments market place (e.g. BACS, SEPA, UK FPS etc)
  • Translating scheme knowledge into practical JPM Operational process within the GPS architecture
  • Support the management and coaching of the Ops Readiness team, providing support and decision making
  • Ensure Ops visibility including challenges across each decom initiative.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice related to payment processes (market scheme knowledge and translation to JPM Operational process)
  • Articulate and document key risks and issues from each initiative that impact Operations.
  • Perform impact analysis for business initiatives to determine partner business groups that will consequently be required to undergo technical or operational process change.
  • Challenge Operations and Technology to improve current processes
  • Devise a methodology and transition process to ensure that Operations can seamlessly move to their respective target state models
  • Analyse defects by prioritising and exploring alternative solutions, and providing Go/No Go decisions
  • Able to represent Ops on key project meetings, making decisions that will impact the direction of the program and operations.

  • Payments Operational process knowledge an advantage

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of Operational Payments Processes and Exceptions Processes is an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail in written documentation
  • Creative problem solver, capable of developing innovative and differentiated solutions
  • Self-motivated, driven to learn and to achieve targets and deliverables
  • Clear and concise communication
