Job Description

This competition is to hire 1 full-time term position, anticipatory perm, working 75 hours bi-weekly; temporary assignments will be equally considered.


The Finance and Admin unit with the Insured Health and Social Services division is seeking an experienced Contract and Purchasing Supervisor to join their team; reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration this position is responsible for coordinating branch procurement processes and performing a variety of financial and administration support services for the Insured Health and Social Services Division.

The ideal candidate will provide:
Coordination of procurement and accounts payable processes;

Advice and supervisory support to divisional staff;

Ensure financial acts, directives, and regulations are met and authorized;

Operations and Maintenance and Capital budget knowledge, expenditures tracking, and other assistance to the division;

Supervising the maintenance of the various database and tracking sheets;

Reconciliations, preparations, reviews, and verifications of branch financial requirements.

Essential Qualifications

Coursework or training in accounting or related field

Experience with procurement within a public sector environment

Experience with accounts payable

Experience providing advice and support to divisional staff on the appropriate procedures to acquire a broad range of goods and services.

Experience interpreting legislation, financial policies, and/or directives

Experience with computerized financial management information systems such as Frontend, Quest, or similar

Experience supervising, leading, or coordinating a team, committee, or group of people in a financial setting

Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Additional Information

Conditions of Employment: RCMP Security Clearance, WHMIS (within one month of hire)

Job Requirements: Works in an office setting, exposure to Video Display Terminal (VDT) at least 70% of the time, and requires the occasional period of overtime to meet operational deadlines.
