About the Role
The position ofControlleris an exceptional opportunity to become a member of the Granville Island Leadership team. In this role, you will provide strategicfinancialand business advice to the management team and formalize strategicpartnerships that will enable continuing development of various projects on Granville Island.
What you need
Undergraduate degree in business administration, finance or commerce.
Professional accounting designation, such as CPA, CA, CMA or CGA.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar position in a similarly sized organization, including 3 years management experience.
Solid understanding of Financial Statements and generally accepted accounting principles.
Demonstrated work experience in technical accounting well as leading and/or participating in cross-functional project teams.
Ability to synthesize data and package coherent recommendations.
Knowledge of relevant financial, legislative and regulatory environments
Sound knowledge of financial and business operations, processes, policies and systems.
Strong influencing skills for making recommendations to management team and clients
Excellent organizational skills to manage several ongoing and competing projects and deadlines.
Excellent analytical and project management skills.
What you will be doing
Support and Guidance:
Supports operations by providing value-added strategic and financial advice, particularly in the area of evaluating business proposals, partnerships and procurement activities.
As a key member of the management team, develops and recommends various scenarios to optimize capital building development and cash flow analyses targeted toward achieving successful implementation of development plans.
As part of the management team, is responsible for developing overall strategic and operating plans to ensure the financial viability of the business unit.
Leads four distinct teams (finance, procurement, administration and payroll) that support the overall operation and decision making of the business unit.
Provides guidance, advice and recommendations to various internal clients, ranging from middle management to Senior VP’s with regards to financial impacts and plans, special initiatives and unique business cases and is accountable for guidelines, policies and risk management.
Continuously reviews systems and implements recommendations that improve overall efficiency.
Ensures that financial controls and procedures are in place, are effective to carry out ongoing operations and are in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and regulations
Ensures that the business unit is in compliance with the external audit, including the timely provision of reports, explanations, data, and related information, as required, to external auditors.
Ensures the overall financial integrity of the operations and reporting system and related systems used in the business unit.
