Job Family Summary:
Develops, recommends, and administers corporate insurance risk management programs across the organization, partnering with Segments, Functions, and Corporate Risk to understand SunTrust’s risk profile and to ensure that corporate insurance decisions are informed and aligned with organizational objectives. Specifically, provides risk, insurance, and claims expertise with a primary focus on mitigating the financial impact of insurable losses. Key responsibilities include: BOLI administration, structure and place corporate insurance program, oversee claims administration, recovery and loss control, and provide insurance risk consulting services to the organization.
Job Level: Senior Professional who plays a lead role in developing, recommending, and administering corporate insurance risk management programs, which may include Master Trust, Marine, Aviation and Bank-Owned Life Insurance programs. Provides support for other large placements and insurance claims. Ensures corporate insurance remains aligned to SunTrust’s operating risks and efficient relative to market pricing trends. Provides ongoing communication, education, and consultation to SunTrust’s management and teammates regarding SunTrust’s corporate insurance programs and general risk management issues. Responsibilities include third-party relationship management. Applies knowledge of best practices derived from experience to solve a range of complex technical and operational problems. Takes a new perspective on existing solutions to solve complex problems. Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Leads small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements; plays significant roles in larger, more complex initiatives. Impacts a range of client, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams. Explains and interprets complex, difficult, or sensitive information. Acts as a resource for teammates with less experience. Works independently and receives minimal guidance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management & Insurance and the candidate should bring an understanding of risk management and claims processes and 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. In-depth knowledge of principles, practices, theories, and/or methodologies associated with insurance risk management. Understands foundational concepts of other related professional disciplines. Experience managing projects or project workstreams. Knowledge of the industry’s competitive landscape and the factors that differentiate SunTrust and its competitors in the market. Ability to interpret and explain complex information to a range of audiences and build consensus among different stakeholders. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.
Preferred: ARM designation, Master’s degree or MBA and 6 years of related experience. Previous experience in the banking industry.
