Customer Service Engineer, Nelspruit SA Job at Valmet Inc. – in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
We are currently looking for a Service Engineer to provide advisory services to customers and/or third-party contractors on existing and/or newly acquired equipment and components.
As a Service Engineer you will provide customer service, such as maintenance, troubleshooting and on call services, and participate in projects implementations related to Quality Control Systems.
Your contribution to develop specified Valmet applications in projects is expected, as well as active support to our service sales. You’ll promote service solutions that brings added value to our customers and you’ll train our customers to use Valmet systems.
You will be responsible for service and technical support on QCS and Process Quality Vision equipment and will be based in Nelspruit. Your duties will be partially shared also customer’s QCS engineers who are also part of the team, but you ultimately take full responsibility for Valmet equipment.
Your main task and responsibilities will be:
Customer Follow-up: Serve assigned customer on scanners and profilers on Paper Machine. Ensure satisfaction of installed-base customer, customer feedback. Identify potential support, up-grade, tuning, optimization, training sales. Identify potential add-on sales or leads during the service visit and takes them forward according to procedures. Manage customer relations, ensure customer satisfaction, inform regional service management on dissatisfactions. Make sure that the Customer install base information is up to date. Follow quality assurance guidelines. Be proactive by calling customer, finding out status of installed equipment and take/propose corrective actions
Service tasks: Execution of service agreement by maintaining and tuning of the QCS and PQV system hardware and software. Apply knowledge of the QCS and PQV systems in providing problem solving solutions in customer environments. Fault finding on QCS Scanners and PQV when problems arise. Provide rostered after-hours on-call support for customer sites on relevant QCS systems (every second week). Identify, develop, propose, and implement competitive technical upgrade solutions to customer base. Improving customer satisfaction with a customer focus. Possible training to the dedicated customers and engineering resource
Teamwork: Promote positive attitude and good motivation inside the team via own behavior. Regularly update and communicate own planning to the local management. Share good practice & knowledge with colleagues at all levels of the organization. Collaborate with all internal stakeholders and participates in team meetings
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Electrical Engineering or equivalent, Instrumentation and process control trade test
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
Experience in Pulps and Paper processes, Automation and quality measurements is considered merit
Expert knowledge in Quality Control Systems
Team building skill
Management skills in a matrix, multi-cultural, international environment
Ability to work under pressure in different customer situations and in different cultural environments
Self-managed, flexibility and ability to set your own daily and weekly priorities with the customer
Good coordination skills in case of start-up/start-up supervision at site
Passion for serving customers and for collaborating with your colleagues
Passion for applying world-class technology to our customers benefit
Knowledge of our customers’ processes and/or automation technology are considered as an advantage
A valid driving license and willingness to travel
Top proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, e-mail systems, company ERP
Fluent in English. Other languages are plus
