Data Engineer

A successful candidate must be a self-starter, fast learner and able to be part of a cross-functional, SCRUM software development team. The candidate is a strong technology professional and software developer with significant experience with big data technologies and must also possess excellent analytical skills, with a focus on detail, quality, and accuracy. The position will include working with distributed business and technical resources, as well as external data sources to implement the components of the architecture.

The Data Engineer plays a vital role in the implementation of our platforms and data integration with external data sources. The Data Engineer is responsible for data management, data discovery, code implementations, data conversion, and on-going support of data ingestion from external sources to our Azure cloud-based repositories.

The Data Engineer will also be involved in the evaluation, strategy, design, customization and optimization of our cloud technology based solutions.

Essential Functions

• Build the framework required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL
• Analyze and assemble large, complex datasets to meet the client’s needs by designing, building, testing, maintaining/modifying pre-existing or new custom BI implementations
• Work collaboratively with the client and internal teams to understand the business needs and identify any gaps or concerns
• Performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Provide high level ETL processing documentation to be incorporated into the Business Requirements Documentation
• Design and optimization of our cloud architecture

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree Computer Science or related discipline, or knowledge acquired through equivalent experience required
• You have expert level SQL skills.
• You can use python or R for data analysis, and take pride in writing production quality code
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
• Strong analytic skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure is a plus
