We’re currently looking for a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team!

What will you be doing?

Do you want to set standards that will bring Cheqroom to the next level? Are you tech-savvy and working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment is what moves you? As Data Protection Officer, you will be:

  • Responsible for Cheqroom data security and privacy framework, including setting and maintaining standards, policies, and procedures that meet the requirements under the data protection regulations
  • Update and maintain the risk matrix and ensure Cheqroom follows risk mitigation processes to ensure SOC 2 and GDPR compliance.
  • You lead the relationships with security and legal third parties and external stakeholders
  • Provide legal advice on various data protection issues, including compliance with the GDPR and privacy laws, to all Cheqroom departments.
  • Support Sales and Customer Success teams on commercial legal technicalities and contract negotiation, analyzing ad-hoc requests and deviations from standard agreements.
  • Take responsibility and support the Head of Finance on Corporate matters such as insurance coverages, notarial needs, board meeting documentation, or monitoring Employee Stock-options Plan.

Are you the one?

  • You have an educational background in Law
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with demonstrable work experience and a proven track record of dealing with data protection and privacy issues and at least 5 in corporate environment,
  • Excellent knowledge of GDPR (SOC 2 is a plus),
  • Strong change management skills to influence peers and management,
  • Solid knowledge of security, compliance, and IT framework within a software development company (Finance, HR, and contract management-related experience is a plus),
  • You are able to translate GDPR and other data protection requirements into business language,
  • You are data-driven, detail-oriented, business-minded, and intellectually curious. You feel comfortable when ideas are shared and challenged,
  • You have a Get-it-done mindset and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done with minimal supervision,
  • Think ahead is your middle name. You have good analytical skills, including the ability to assess future risks and impacts from a privacy and data protection perspective,
  • You’re fluent in English and Dutch, and your communication skills enable you to talk and present to internal and external stakeholders
