This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

The Data Wait Time Monitor analyzes and provides timely and accurate data to improve the performance of cancer services, to support health professionals, policy makers, planners and researchers. The Program also works to support the delivery of best practices, improve quality of care, improve patient safety, and utilize data to improve accountability and enable better system planning and policy-making.

Some of the responsibilities of the Data Wait Time Monitor include, but are not limited to:

Collecting accurate and timely wait time data

Providing clinicians and other health professionals with the tools required to effectively assess patient urgency according to a defined wait times standard;

Measuring and reporting wait times and data regarding utilization of procedures;

Supplying clinicians, administrators and managers with near real-time information for use in monitoring and managing wait lists

Reporting wait time information to the department of Health and Wellness and cancer Care Nova Scotia.

Generate and maintain statistical reports, according to hospital and provincial policy

Participate in Quality Management Programs and initiatives

Qualifications

Graduate of a of a two year medical secretarial program

Minimum of one year experience in a computerized office environment in the past 5 years

Proficient in using Health Information Systems such as, OPIS (Oncology Patient Information System), CWS (Community wide scheduling), Medi-tech systems for Data Collection& Monitoring

Proficient in accessing data from a variety of data repositories and compiling Statistical reports

Demonstrated proficiency in using software applications such as: Microsoft Office Outlook and Excel with a minimum of two years utilizing this software.

Ability to work independently, with minimal interruptions, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to exercise tact, and maintain confidentiality.

Client focused, with the ability to work within a team environment

Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Short Assignment Part-time (40%) Position; 28 hours bi-weekly

Beginning August 23, 2021 with an expected end date of February 22, 2022

Salary Information

$21.7303 – $24.3130 hourly
