Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight – flexible options available.


Provide high-level strategic and operational advice to the other Agency Executive members.

Provide research, analysis and issues management for the Secretary on matters for which the occupant is directly accountable, including COAG and Law, Crime, Community Safety Council matters, inter-agency groups, ad-hoc enquiries as well as issues related to management of the Agency.

Ensure a coordinated and comprehensive Agency input and response to emerging issues or specific requests including policy initiatives or proposals from the Government, other governments, COAG and other Ministerial Councils and other agencies.

Coordinate the strategic policy activities of the Office of the Secretary with other policy areas reporting to other Agency Executive members and manage designated issues, projects and policies on behalf of the Agency Executive.

Oversee and provide leadership about specified whole-of-department administrative policies and related processes in particular:

Personal information

Public interest disclosure

Right to information

Conflicts of Interest

Pecuniary Interest

Gifts and benefits

Lobbyist requests

Manage the operations, staff and other resources of the Office of the Secretary, including:

Executive support for members of the Agency Executive;

Cabinet, Executive Council, ministerial and parliamentary liaison;

Provision of information and advice to portfolio Ministers on Agency process matters;

Support for the Ministers and members of the Agency Executive in a range of forums;

Input to major parliamentary and machinery of government processes for the Department, including Budget Estimates and other briefings;

Operational activities related to the administration of Justice.

Contribute to the governance of the Agency and oversee corporate and business planning and related processes for the Agency;

Oversee the processes for board, tribunal and statutory appointments managed by the Agency and liaise with the Presiding members and Registrars on operational issues associated with those entities.

Represent the Department on inter-agency and inter-governmental working groups, as requested by the Secretary.
