About the Role

Here at Babcock International we’re looking for an Energy Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

The Non-Nuclear Facility Maintenance Department’s role is to carry out maintenance, utility delivery and strategic upgrades across the entire Non-Nuclear Devonport Royal Dockyard Estate assets in order to support the wider business. It is governed by the MSDF contract between the MoD and Babcock. As Energy Manager you’ll manage the Devonport energy budget – circa £11.5M per annum. You’ll develop, coordinate and implement strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption whilst ensuring that the MSDF Energy output is satisfied.

What do I need to do the role?

You’ll be hold a Degree/HND in a relevant Engineering discipline OR ONC with suitable experience within an energy management discipline.

We would also like you to have the following:

A good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems as well as knowledge of the energy use of organisations.

Good communication skills to be able to present a case briefly and logically

Potential to stimulate and manage change

Ability to establish effective networks both within and outside the organisation

Project Management skills

Potential to educate and train other managers and the workforce

Lastly, you’ll have up-to-date knowledge of legislation such as the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).

What else do I need to know?

The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
