Job Description

The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) works with the House of Commons, the House of Lords, and Parliament staff on their IT and digital needs.


At the Parliamentary Digital Service, we’re transforming the way Parliament does digital. We’re responsible for the digital output of all parliamentary services. We think it’s important that everyone can access and understand what’s going on in Parliament. Our goal is to bring together the public, Parliament Members, and Parliamentary staff to inform, engage, support, and communicate through one, unified digital core – PDS.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced architect to join Parliament’s architecture team as an Enterprise Architect. Your broad understanding of technology and ability to swiftly understand the way that Parliament operates will allow you to advise projects on solutions and identify where those solutions fit into the technology landscape in Parliament.

You will be part of the technical governance processes in Parliament carrying out initial assessments of projects to ensure that the complexity and challenges are correctly identified; you will support the Solution Architects by reviewing their designs against our design principles; and you will participate in project and governance boards.

This role will join a small team of Enterprise Architects reporting to the Head of Architecture. We are currently developing a new architectural repository for Parliament documenting our technology landscape and mapping business capabilities to systems. Your insights will form a key input into the repository.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

We are currently looking for candidates who have:
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to establish positive working relationships and influence and persuade at all levels.

Experience of successful technical leadership, working as an architect on complex projects and programmes.

Ability to model and analyse business and operating models.

Ability to see the “big picture” and identify opportunities to join up systems, technologies and business capabilities.

Experience of populating and maintaining architectural repositories.
