Finance Lead: Payroll Job at Aspen Pharma Group – in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
Job Description
Manages and reports on activities of Payroll. Implements and manages accounting controls within the unit.
Responsibilities :
Policies and Systems
Manage the accounting systems for payroll, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality
Review and develop payroll related policies and processes, ensuring alignment between corporate finance, strategy and legislative requirements
Manage the implementation of internal financial policies and procedures within Payroll, ensuring policies adhere to regulatory requirements
Map and standardise Payroll processes
Reconciliations and Reporting
Implement, maintain structures and processes to produce Payroll reconciliations
Review and finalise Payroll related reports, budgets and reconciliations; guide regarding non-reconciling items
Monitor and report on budget variances
Assist with month/ year-end closure procedures
Payroll
Take accountability for weekly and monthly payrolls
Manage payment of taxes and levies to avoid penalties/ interest
Verify and authorise manual and third-party payments
Ensure that Tax certificates are issued and distributed
Provide advice regarding annual remuneration increase proposals
Manage bonus and leave provision reviews
Review SARS Reconciliations, Workman’s compensation (WCA) & UIF (returns and forms)
Audit and Risk
Support with audit preparation and collation of data for audit files
Update internal control systems and maintain data for financial control purposes
Comply with internal audit guidelines for Payroll and support internal and external audit processes
Unit Management
Provide input during drafting of unit strategy and objectives
Guide operational planning and advise on prioritisation of activities
Provide input into budgets and resource requirements for the unit
Manage assets and resources for the fulfilment of work objectives
Provide unit staff with day-to-day direction and tasks
Skills Required
Background/experience
Minimum 5 years payroll system experience
Experience in the pharmaceutical/FMCG industry is preferred
CRS experience is preferred
BCom degree in a financial field
Tertiary HR/Payroll Qualification
Specific job skills
Computer literacy: proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and a fully integrated ERP system
