Job Description

The Finance and Business Services Centre plays the primary role in the strategic management of financial resources across the University. Our aim is to partner with our customers and provide them with superior services that deliver professional relationships, efficient processes and sound financial management to support the University’s objectives.


The Finance Team has the primary responsibility to deliver high quality financial management and business support to Schools and Service Centres through the following activities:

Support Executive Deans/Directors and other school executives in the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives.

Provide financial leadership and direction to the School/Centre specifically in relation to budgeting/forecasting, student load planning, management reporting, performance monitoring, business development and asset management.

Provide financial leadership to support research initiatives including revenue, financial management and acquittal processes.

Provide financial leadership, direction and operational support to the Schools/Centres to complement the financial activities provided by FBSC.

Ensure consistent application of finance processes and procedures within the School/Centre.

The Role

A vital part of these teams are the Finance Officers who are responsible for providing a range of accounting support services in delivery of the team’s objectives. The key responsibilities of this role includes, but is not limited to:

Assistance with compliance issues;

Invoice production;

Processing journal requests;

Account and project reconciliation;

Training of internal customers; and

Process improvement.

The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, practices and procedures, and of computer based accounting systems (preferably Oracle Financials).

Benefits & Remuneration

This full-time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $66,813 to $71,161 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
