Job Description

Summary:As a strategic partner, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) aligns business objectives with employees and leadership at the mine, and serves as a consultant to the local leadership teams on Human Resource related issues. The successful HRBP will act as an employee champion and change agent, assess and anticipate HR-related needs, communicate needs proactively and work in collaboration with corporate HR, and seek to develop integrated solutions. The HRBP formulates partnerships across the HR functions to deliver value added service to local leadership and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the facilities’ financial positions, their mid-range plans, their cultures and the competition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to the following:

Consult with mine leadership (general foremans and supervisors) providing HR guidance when appropriate.

Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.

Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Provide counsel on employment law issues in collaboration with legal.

Provides day to day performance management guidance to mine leadership (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

Works closely with mine leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase engagement, productivity and retention.

Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.

Identify training needs for the facility and individual coaching needs.

Provide day to day labour relations guidance to mine leadership (coaching, counseling on grievance responses and grievance avoidance

Able to work with Union executives on labour relations issues.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Labour Relations.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or equivalent work experience.

CHRP designation.

3-5 years of progressive human resources experience.

Basic working knowledge of human resource disciplines.
