The opportunity

Your role will involve facilitating the underwriting application and administration process on behalf of our members and insurer, which you’ll achieve by proactively managing expectations of members/claimants, insurers and key stakeholders associated with each case. the key deliverables of this role will include:

Managing death, terminal illness and permanent incapacity claims in accordance with UniSuper’s Case Management Principles.

Ensuring end to end accountability and ownership of claims portfolio

Overseeing a smooth external claim process.

Preparing various claims documents e.g., Claims Summaries and Death Recommendations for submission to the Insurance Management Committee (IMC) and/or Insurance Committee (IC).

Managing a portfolio of Optional Insurance applications and requests.

Facilitating the Underwriting request throughout the duration of the application/request within the agreed time frames.

Meeting UniSuper’s service and quality standards.

Educating and proactively managing expectations. Building rapport and productive relationships.

Utilising phone communication as the primary means of contact.

Anticipating the member’s/stakeholders’ needs at all times.

About you

You will ideally possess the following experience, capabilities and qualifications:

Claims case management experience

Experience within the financial services and superannuation industries, with experience of both defined benefit and accumulation funds

Sound knowledge of death, terminal illness and permanent incapacity claim, and insurance application, processes

Comfortable referring to trust deeds and insurance policies to answer questions

Good interpersonal/team skills that require a high standard of empathy

Attention to detail

Excellent time management

Customer service, particularly in dealing with difficult situations

Dealing with self and external insurance arrangements

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry experience and RG146 compliant
