Post Held: IT Apprentice

Salary Scale: Apprenticeship

Hours: 37 hours a week – All Year Round

To Whom Responsible: Senior Design and ICT Technician

Aim of the Post

To provide IT support across the School, including but not limited to; supporting with email,

passwords and supporting users; troubleshooting on School devices including PCs,

Laptops and phones; supporting the setup of virtual meetings and conferences.

Duties Comprise:

  • Provide 1st line End User Support (via phone, chat, email or in person) covering all

Microsoft Windows PCs, MS Office, Office 365, Macs, iPhones/iPads, Printers,

Phones and School related devices.

  • Responsible for installation and configuration of computer systems, detecting

hardware and software problems, and solving technical issues.

  • “Building” School computers by installing relevant software to specification including

laptops and towers.

  • Log jobs and encourage the use of the IT ticketing system
  • Monitor the Support email mailbox and contact end users where needed
  • Keep hardware and software inventory and asset log
  • Any other duties commensurate with grade as directed by Line Manager or Senior

Management

  • To be fully aware of and understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the

Children’s Act 2004 and Working Together in relation to child protection and

safeguarding children and young people.

  • To ensure that the line manager is made aware and kept fully informed of any

concerns which the worker may have in relation to safeguarding and/or child

protection.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

1) No formal qualifications are required for this post. However if you do not already

have the equivalent of GCSE A*-C Maths and English you will be required to

complete Functional Skills Level 2 for these subjects.

2) Commitment to learning and completing the Level 3 Information Communication

Technician apprenticeship.

3) Experience working in technology (for example as work experience, in school,

home projects or as a volunteer) is desirable

4) Any experience in a customer facing role or supporting people remotely would be

beneficial

Knowledge

5) Understanding of technology, any experience within this is desirable.

Abilities and Skills

6) Ability to work closely within a small team

7) Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

8) Able to seek assistance when needed.

This role will provide the successful candidate with a career enhancing apprenticeship,

however there is not currently a permanent vacancy after the apprenticeship.
