Certica seeks an experienced IT Manager to manage and grow a small team that is responsible for Certica’s IT systems and infrastructure, including servers, networks, notebooks, printers, VoIP, video conferencing, Office 365 and administration of in-house desktop and productivity software applications. This position also has responsibility for devising, evolving and refining Certica’s information technology strategy. The company has six physical offices and approximately 20% of its employees work from home offices, so ability to manage the team to provide effective remote support is crucial; furthermore, a modest amount of travel is required by the IT Manager related to the distributed office model. This is currently a player-coach role given the size of the company, but Certica is on a growth trajectory and the IT Manager will be expected to be able to grow the team as necessary over time and transition their own responsibilities more toward managing the team and less participation in hands-on IT projects.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Prepares and manages to annual IT operating budget, develops capital improvement budget and evaluates the acquisition and installation of new equipment (hardware and software);
Develops and implements operating procedures for computing and Information Technology;
Maintains a library of all system software and ensures all licensing requirements have been met and are current for all existing software;
Manages contracts and licenses for computing and IT services and equipment (includes internet, phone service and application software);
Is responsible for the development, review, testing and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans;
Maintains all IT hardware, software, networking and audiovisual equipment, and integration with printing and telecom;
Stays on top of industry trends for IT, cyber security and other relevant areas;
Some work outside regular business hours is required to ensure normal business operations;
Supports all infrastructure for all remote offices;
Oversee a growing team; and
Modest travel is required.
Skills and Professional Experience:
8+ years of relevant experience in IT including team management and technical activities;
Experience managing a small team of technical professionals;
Understands IT technologies and concepts such as switching, storage solutions, network and virtualization;
Experience with both Windows and Linux operating environments;
Able to think and act strategically;
Ability to analyze and present data;
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work and communicate with all levels of employees; and
Proven project management skills and experience with managing budgets.
