The International IT Analyst is a key contributor from a solutions and project perspective between in-country IT and US IT teams to align with the strategic direction of Global Planning.

This person will be responsible for consulting internally and in-country teams to capture technology needs, help prioritize the global planning process, and facilitate analysis, submittal, and approve new initiatives. Lead efforts to define and manage technology solutions, project initiatives, business architectures, technology objectives and strategies, and represent these to business areas and IT leadership in the US as needed.

The International IT Analyst will represent the international teams in project initiation and change management in the US through ensuring project scope and features to accurately meet their needs. The International IT Analyst will become an expert in business procedures/processes and participate in business transformation and change management activities. Customer service, communication, productivity, professionalism and understanding different cultures/customs in countries where Costco does business around the world is crucial. In addition, the candidate will have the ability and/or aptitude for leadership and self-motivation, possessing analytical skills and Costco business expertise. The candidate should be comfortable with speaking in front of groups of people and leading meetings in person as well as on conference calls with all levels of IT and business teams.

Focuses on technology and the development of solutions and strategies.

Oversees, coordinates and assists in the management of all facets of international delivery efforts to ensure milestones and deliverables are met within schedule, budget and quality ensured.

Interacts with technical team(s) to translate functional specifications into technology solutions.

Develops and maintains key team deliverables/dashboards/KPIs.

Elicits, documents, and validates requirements.

Manages vendor relationships ensuring cost control and timely deliverables.

Facilitates understanding between the International IT team and US Finance team regarding departmental financials.

International IT Alignment:
Develops and manages stakeholder relationships.

Fosters confidence as a trusted advisor to International IT and business areas.

Consults on industry technology/retail trends and capabilities.

Advocates for the technology needs of international business groups with US Operations.

Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching for International IT team members.

Adheres to and upholds Costco’s core values. Works with division in development and driving executable IT Programs in support of the company, divisional and team goals and objectives as they relate to assigned areas.

Develops/coordinates budgetary, legal/compliance, operational controls and associated metrics to measure success.

Captures and analyzes customer needs and priorities and initiates delivery efforts.

Documents and manages risks, issues, assumptions, and constraints impacting international delivery efforts.

Communicates international modernization status to stakeholders.

Conducts periodic audits for overall international solutions, planning and delivery functions.

Organizes and synthesizes large amounts of information provided by stakeholders.

Support business functions and outages as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays (24/7) to help drive resolution of issues and outages.


2-5 years’ of experience in technology solutions and/or Costco business experience.

Develops and presents a business case document and/or presentation to management. Must be familiar with a broad set of technologies and solutions currently in use at Costco.

Successfully manages/handles multiple delivery projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and with limited supervision.

Good understanding of Corporate IT policies, procedures and standards.

Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including presentation skills, and the ability to negotiate and effectively engage individuals at all levels of the organization.

Extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.

Up to 25% international travel may be required.


3-5 years’ of experience and commitment to applying project management methodologies.

2-5 years’ of experience in development and administration of project and team level financial budgeting and tracking.

1-3 years’ of experience gathering business requirements.

2-5 years’ of experience in reporting and analytics.

Proven leadership skills, including (but not limited to):
Leading a team in the execution of a successful project or initiative.

Leading a cross-functional team through a decision that resulted in a business benefit.

Managing program/project level budgeting and providing financial tracking.

Must be able to align both active and planned project work efforts with program vision.

Must be able to coordinate deliverables and interdependencies across program(s).

Proven experience in evaluating a business need, and facilitating decision making to gain approval for the solution.

Works with US IT Operations to develop delivery efforts aligned with Global IT Modernization and Transformation.

Proven history of successful management of business critical programs and projects.

Manages program/project architectural and technical strategies as defined by Enterprise Architecture.

Manages program level activities by developing and executing against a strategic program charter.

Process improvement skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide solutions.

Familiar with Costco’s IT or similar project methodology, processes and procedures.

Multi-lingual (Korean, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, or Chinese).

Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, CS, MIS or equivalent experience.
