Job Description

Working within Digital Hands’ Security Operations Center (SOC), the IT Security Specialist acts as a first responder, monitoring alarms coming from a wide variety of network monitoring and security systems across customers’ environments, including, SIEMs, Firewalls, Vulnerability Scanners, IDS/IPS (host and network based), Application Control and Anti-Virus. The IT Security Specialist supports and acts as a member of a first response team to provide accurate and actionable intelligence to customers.

Monitor security systems and analyze potential threats using security technologies such as SIEM, Firewalls, Vulnerability Scanners, IDS/IPS (host and network based), and Anti-Virus.

Assist security analyst with event log analysis, incident response to critical security alarms, and network monitoring for health and availability of clients’ systems.

Assist security analyst with analysis of network traffic to assess, prioritize and differentiate between potential intrusion attempts and false alarms.

Assist security analyst with investigation of indicators of compromise to determine trends and eliminate threats within customer environments.

Performing scheduled checks of security devices to detect failures in technology and process.

Able to perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree (in progress) and/or 1 year of experience in an information technology role.

Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, and/or equivalent are preferred.

Experience in IT, network and security operations, with knowledge of:

Network security attacks, vectors and network protocols including TCP, UDP, ICMP, SNMP, HTTP, and FTP.

Experience with network troubleshooting of workstations, server, switches, and routers.

Operating systems knowledge and systems administration skills for various versions of UNIX, LINUX, and Windows and ability to read and understand Windows logs.

Strong knowledge of the various security solutions such as AV, IPS, IDS, SIEM, firewalls and proxies.

Understanding of Incident Response phases.

Information Security and Compliance industry standards and best practices.

A keen interest in security and the need for the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information and information systems to be maintained.
