In this role, the Market Insights Manager is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and communicating customer needs, market landscape and competitive intelligence, through primary and secondary market research and data analytics. This person will be the regional expert on market dynamics, opportunity sizing, unmet needs, and competitive insights. He/she will apply business context to synthesis the insights into specific implications and enable actions through cross-functional and cross-regional collaborations. He/ She will report to the director of global insights and strategy and serve as the connection between global marketing and regional operation.

Responsibilities and Duties


Establish the “Source of Truth” about the MEA market that is objective, fact-based and consistent. Serve as the connection, or the point of contact, between global marketing and regional operations.

Identify market research and data analysis needs specific to MEA. Contribute to the development and execution of annual global market insights plan and budget

Create the fact base for the strategic planning process. Facilitate the creation of regional narrative and the alignment with global strategy in close collaboration with the regional leadership and teams

Proactively manage stakeholders in the region and cross functions (e.g., Finance, R&D, sales, regulatory, etc.). Drive communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among global, region and functional teams

Market Research:
Lead, design and conduct market, customer and industry research, including both primary market research (in-depth interviews, surveys, focus group, conference research, field intelligence, etc.) and secondary research across multiple qualitative and quantitative sources (literature review, syndicated reports, equity research, web search, clinical trial and patent research, database analysis, etc.)

Develop hypothesis about market, customer, and competition with limited data. Design research methodology to validate and refine the hypothesis, identify and analyze market scenarios, and drive business decisions with best information and assumptions available

Synthesize the findings into business implication and actionable recommendations in written reports (WORD, PPT, Excel) and/or dashboards. Engage functional teams and senior leaders in various formal and informal settings, including live presentation, interactive dashboards, facilitated workshops, email and online publications, etc.

Data Analytics

Collect, QC, and analyze internal and external data sets. Triangulate across multiple data sources to improve data quality. Identify data gaps and develop business rules to address such the gaps with best available data and assumptions at hand.

Develop market models that characterize segmentation, size, share, and growth, in collaboration with franchises, regions and finance, and using appropriate analytical and visualization tools (Excel, Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, etc).

Build alignment with leadership and regional teams about market quantification. Identify trends and insights to track business performance, market trends and competitive opportunities/ threats

Project Management:
Manage project teams to deliver quality outputs on time, on budget, and in compliance with global, local, and Abbott policies.

Coordinate across multiple projects to match business priorities, with guidance from global marketing and regional leadership.

Evaluate, select, and manage research vendors and data providers, including RFP, procurement, budget and quality management.

Create and maintain a process/ system for knowledge management

Experience and Qualifications:
Tertiary Qualification that is Life Science Or Business Related

Candidate must have a minimum of 5-7 years working experience in the market research, competitive intelligence, and data analytics field in industries such as Healthcare, Consumer Packaged Goods, Medical Devices or Pharmaceuticals or similar industries with the Middle East And Africa

Advanced Excel and Power BI ( or Related Packages )

Experience having done Quantitative and Qualitative data Modelling

Experience with secondary data analytics is preferred.

Experience with relational databases and programming is a plus.

Expertise in conducting market research and data analysis in MEA. Deep understanding of local culture, health care infrastructure, geopolitical and business environment.
