Fixed term, full-time day work (with on-call), working 76 hours per fortnight commencing ASAP until 31 December 2021
Please note the successful applicant will be required to work between the hours of 11am – 7pm
Part time hours may be considered.
Royal Hobart Hospital – Pathology Services – Molecular Medicine
The Medical Scientist will work as part of a team of professional staff engaged in the molecular diagnosis of acquired, inherited and infectious diseases.
In the role of Medical Scientist, you will:
Perform routine and specialised tests for the detection of genetic changes at both the chromosomal and nucleic acid levels.
Perform specialised tests for the detection of infectious agents in a variety of specimen types.
Undertake testing in accordance with national laboratory accreditation guidelines.
Communicate results to clients.
Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study at a recognised tertiary institution.
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty
2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check
