Job Description


Coordinates referral management functions and ensures team members receive information in a timely and efficient manner to facilitate continuity of patient care.

Coordinates specialty care referrals. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.

Reviews specialty care referrals for appropriateness, covered benefit, and administrative completeness.

Schedules/coordinates specialty care and durable medical equipment appointments within military health system and local network and provides appointment notification and instructions to patient.

Provides health benefits advice to patients and assists with claims submission and processing.

Maintains and tracks referral records.

Participates with team members in providing, assessing and improving a wide variety of customer services/relations. This includes, but is not limited to, front desk service, requiring direct interaction with walk-in patients.

Assists in the management of all forms of communication between beneficiaries, team members, internal staff and providers, network/outside providers and ancillary health care workers.

Obtains, scans and/or uploads clear and legible medical reports into medical records and provides notification to referring provider for review.

Maintains direct communication with major host nation facility contacts specifically related to referrals/authorizations for OB services. Informs patients of facility options and processes additional referrals that may be needed pertaining to continued OB care.

The contractor must remain in the 31 MDG or be immediately available to the 31 MDG throughout each tour of duty.

The contractor shall attend meetings and training as directed by the TOPA Flight Commander or his/her designee. The contractor shall attend any additional special meeting called by the 31 MDG Commander or his/her designee as required.

The contractor shall complete all MTF orientation program(s), initial and annual training requirements, and comply with all MTF policies, procedures, productivity standards and instructions as provided by the MTF.

The contractor shall become acquainted with and obey all station regulations, shall perform in a manner to preclude the waste of utilities, and shall not use Government telephones, fax machines, copiers or computers/email for personal business. All motor vehicles operated on these installations by the contractor shall be registered with the base security service according to applicable directives. Eating is prohibited in patient care areas and is restricted to designated areas. Smoking is prohibited in all clinic facilities.

The contractor shall comply with all MTF checkout processes.


Knowledge and clerical and administrative office functions.

Contractor’s personnel shall be able to read, write, speak, and understand English at high level equal to a B2 (“Independent User; Vantage level” of the Common European framework of reference for languages). Bilingual English/Italian is preferred.

Have experience working within the Air Force Medical Service or DoD is preferred. Consideration will be given to those who have completed medical-related college-level coursework.

In-service training for all contractor employees is to be provided and documented by government personnelthroughout the period of the contract. The contractor shall maintain a copy of its certifiable continuing education program and provide a copy to the government prior to the start of the contract.

Standard office equipment, such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems.

General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.

Education. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. Medical terminology desired.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements. The work is mainly sedentary, but may require walking, bending, standing, and/or carrying of light items such as files, manuals, and medical records.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: €39,625.00 to €45,245.00 /year
