MSCA – Postdoctoral Fellowship: Acute lymphoblastic… Job at HR – JOSEP CARRERAS LEUKAEMIA RESEARCH INSTITUTE – in Badalona, Barcelona provincia
The Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) research group , led by Dr. Ribera of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute ( Fundació Institut de Recerca Contra la Leucèmia Josep Carreras ) welcomes expressions of interest from excellent postdoctoral researchers to jointly apply to the European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme (MSCA-PF-2021).
We are a basic-translational research group working on adult T-cell Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Two main research lines have been stablished in the laboratory:
i) Improvement of risk stratification of patients with adult T-ALL in the context of PETHEMA (Spanish program for hematological treatments) trials: we are using OMICs (SNPa; target deep sequencing [TDS] and digital karyotype [Bionanoenomics®]) to elucidate the mutational landscape of T-ALL patients included in the PETHEMA trials to refine their stratification and therefore improve their survival. The results obtained so far are currently being applied in the ALL-HR (Ph-) 2019 trial (NCT04179929). Research currently being conducted in the group will apply to future PETHEMA treatment protocols. This research line is currently financed by the national health system (ISCIII (PI19/01828).
ii) Development of new therapeutic alternatives to adult T-ALL patients: focused on the study of the mechanisms of relapse and the identification of the cells responsible for clonal resistance to treatment, we want to identify new ways to treat T-ALL patients to overcome resistance, which is responsible of treatment failure in 60% of T-ALL cases. In addition, we are using the genomic information obtained at time of diagnosis to explore new chemotherapeutic schedules in combination or not with new target therapies to improve treatment of these patients. For that, our lab has developed a primary co-culture system to grow leukemias in vitro and a PDX mouse model to assess these new anti-leukemic therapies in vivo .
Information regarding the Group Leader, composition of the research team, lines of research of the group and competitive funding can be found in our institutional website . The fellow would be co-supervised by Dr. Genescà .
The MSCA-PF grant provides living allowance covering one to two years’ salary, a mobility allowance and a family allowance (depending of the family status of the fellow), as well as research, training and networking costs, which translates in a very competitive salary conditions in relation to the average cost of living in Barcelona, which is a dynamic, vibrant and multi-cultural European capital city.
