Online A Level Tutors Job at Leading Lights Education & Wellbeing in Home Based

Job Description

Online A Level Tutors

As one of our passionate and highly skilled team, you have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to educational inequality!

About us:

Leading Lights is an exciting not-for-profit social enterprise that provides tuition, mentoring, advocacy and family support for young people suffering in silence. These might be young carers or young people with mental health difficulties who are unable to access other services to meet their complex social needs. We fund this work by providing specialist, tailored one-to-one tuition to Local Authorities and then re-investing the money, thereby also helping to reduce the pressure on public services and transform outcomes across a diverse range of backgrounds.

The Role:

We are looking for outstandingly lovely practitioners to work online to deliver A level tutoring across a range of subjects. We are currently recruiting for a specific project supporting students looking to gain university places, as well as more generally for practitioners to support children with social, emotional and mental health requirements (SEMH).

Our vision is a society where imagination, love and endless possibilities are the everyday words that people associate with child and family services. Our mission is to find those children and families who might feel lost and to energise, educate and inspire them through an innovative, holistic programme of wellbeing and learning, individually tailored to the needs of each amazing individual who walks through our door. We take a passionate and dedicated approach to young people’s wellbeing and education, acting as enablers to creativity, growth and love.

We want Leading Lights to be accessible to every child and family that needs our help and support, funded through our ground breaking not-for-profit model. This means that we can invest in academic and emotional support for the young people who need it the most, and in doing so we create real change and meaningful social impact.

Personal Profile:

This is a part-time self-employed role with competitive sessional pay varying on experience, and the individual placement. Some of our team are full-time professional tutors, others are also working full or part-time in schools. Our placements can fit around other commitments, although we do ask that you commit to your students once placed; They really need you to be reliable for them!

Most importantly, you will share our key values: Imagination, love, a desire to nurture, and you will be joyful, energised, eloquent, brave and empathetic. Most of our team possess qualified teacher status, but we will also love applications from those who have gathered their teaching experience by other means, especially by a professional focus on working outside the mainstream classroom.

A willingness to work flexibly is necessary, as is an ability to be self-reflective and committed, with a passion for learning and knowledge and making learning invigorating!

We are committed to safeguarding best practice and thus you will need to have a suitable enhanced DBS check to work with children, or a willingness to get one.

Ideally, you will have:

· A high-quality degree from a great university with fantastic subject knowledge

· More than two years teaching experience

· A track record for showing fantastic progress

· A passion for working one-to-one with children and inspiring them

Our work is enriching, rewarding, and well supported by a dedicated, lovely core team who are always looking for your vision and input into how we fulfil our social mission as we grow. If you think this sounds like you, then do please send a CV and a cover letter explaining what you can offer in terms of your experience and values, and why you want to offer it.

Please send your CV and cover letter via Indeed by Friday 22nd January 2021 and we will invite shortlisted candidates to complete some further application forms in line with our safer recruitment policy.

Please note that whilst we would love to get back to everyone, as a really busy team, sometimes this is not always possible and please forgive us if we do not get back to you if you are not successful for interview. If feedback is really important to you, please do let us know and we will do our best to make this possible.

We are so excited about hearing from you!
