Job Description

ROLE OBJECTIVE:
Develop and lead the implementation the overall strategy, agenda and priorities for Patient Advocacy at EUCAN regional level

Partner with regional patient organizations groups on mutual respect and transparency to embed patient perspective across the organization and position Takeda as a recognized patient centric company

Drive capabilities building and best practices sharing across EUCAN patient advocacy community by developing and maintaining a strong network with the LOCs advocacy leads

Is a key partner for regional Policy and Communications function, representing patient advocacy within the Regional leadership team, cross-functional groups and Global teams/forums, as required

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Engage with regional / local POsAGs (e.g., EU Patient advocacy groups for awareness building initiatives, patient education initiatives) to understand their needs and evaluate partnerships in areas of mutual interest.

Develop and implement a regional patient advocacy strategy for EUCAN in line with The Aspire to Lead strategy.

Represent Takeda with professionalism, credibility and integrity at national and international meetings and European/International Patient Committees to enhance Takeda’s reputation (e.g. EURORDIS, European Hemophilia Consortium (EHC), EFPIA Patient Think Tank, Rare Disease International (RDI), European Patient Forum, EUPATI etc.). Oversee sponsorship, grants and donations for these respective patient organizations.

Define and lead the annual measure of patient reputation/engagement metrics as part of the broader EUCAN KPI.

Partner with LOCs to identify opportunities to improve and lead action planning activities to be scaled up across the region.

Ensure effective coaching and training based on Global Compliance Framework for the LOCs to build technical and leadership skills for maximum performance and long term succession planning.

High degree of influencing, guiding and mentoring of LOC Patient Advocacy Leads and related functions throughout the EUCAN region, to ensure strategic directions are set & operationalization of plans are on-track

Ensure compliance in all interactions throughout the organization and maintain regular liaison with the global, regional and local compliance function to ensure that all processes and activities comply with internal and external policies (NP4, EFPIA, deontological code, global Patient Engagement guidelines)

Organize patient speakers for internal summits, meetings, etc.

KNOWLEDGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Deep knowledge of key trends in both internal and external environment with an impact on advocacy group engagement

Ability to be an efficient ‘translator’ between the NGO world and the corporate world; bring the patient voice within the organization in a credible and effective manner

Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with key external stakeholders, including European umbrella Patient Advocacy Groups

Technical expertise in areas such as data privacy, compliance and legal requirements of patient services and advocacy activities.

Understanding of the needs and behaviors of a broad variety of stakeholder groups, including patients, their families, consumers and medical professionals
