About The DepartmentThe Student Health Center (https://studenthealth.wwu.edu/) is a primary care medical clinic specializing in college health. The Student Health Center is staffed by a team of board-certified family physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and support staff. We provide an extensive array of services including preventive health care and management of health concerns, illnesses, and injuries. We strive to support student success academically, physically and emotionally. We exist to assist our students to stay well during their college years, get well if they become ill so as to minimize time away from their studies, and to be well lifelong.

About The PositionCoordinates and provides patient support services such as scheduling appointments, answering telephones, receiving patients, registering patients, and processing patient documents in the Student Health Center for a diverse population of university age patients in a university setting.
This is a full-time, 9-month cyclic position. Work occurs mid-September through mid-June.
Responsibilities Include50% Receive/Check-in Patients
Register patients – collect and/or update demographic and financial information; evaluates student status to determine eligibility for care; obtains insurance information; initiates emergency procedure when necessary; responds to patient questions
Maintains confidentiality of patient information; follows clinic policies and procedures, best practices, HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
30% Schedule Appointments, Answer Telephones
Answers and screens telephone calls and voicemails; schedules new, return, ancillary and procedure appointments consistent with patient needs and scheduling guidelines
Completes required documentation; enters appointment information in electronic medical record; maintains system by entering cancelled and rescheduled appointments.
20% Perform General Clerical Duties
Maintains the organization of the patient chart
Processes mail and incoming measles information
Assembles and sends information to patients; faxes; scans; performs related duties as required
