Just a quick note since you may be wondering what this “People Excellence Manager” position is about. In a nutshell, we are looking for someone who can lead all the talent and people’s efforts. At FounderNest, while we like commonly-accepted terms such as People Ops Manager, we prefer to come up with our own names to better reflect what we are looking for. This is us, using AI to (truly) disrupt an entire industry
Currently, in semi-stealth mode, FounderNest is an AI company born out of Stanford and based in Silicon Valley that matches investors and corporations with startups based on proprietary deep profiling and analytics. Our product identifies companies in unique sources, combines metadata and real-time growth signals, predicts when startups are about to raise, and delivers highly qualified deal flow to investors and corporations based on specified multi-variant criteria.
The most prominent VCs and corporations worldwide such as Sequoia , Andreessen Horowitz , Accel , NEA , or two of the largest pharma companies worldwide are already using FounderNest.
Funding wise, we’ve just raised a large oversubscribed round ; and are backed by some of the best investors worldwide who have also invested in Paypal , Waze , Palantir , Square , or Pinterest .
Company-wise, this is the perfect time for the company! We are ️ killing our monthly revenue targets consistently ( 50%+ over monthly targets). We have grown from 7 to 18 people in one year and we just need more hands to conquer the entire industry! (We hope) this is who you are
As FounderNest’s People Excellence Manager, you will lead the development of an environment where individuals and the organization can thrive as we continue to grow and scale. You will be responsible for coordinating all the functions that touch an employee’s experience at FounderNest, so that we can support and nurture every employee. Our team is in two locations (now fully remote): San Francisco and Madrid; so you will work at Silicon Valley speed right from the heart of beautiful Madrid (for now it would be remote of course!), literally the best of both worlds : )
You and I will work hand by hand and you’ll also be working functionally with Miguel .

As a startup things may evolve but we have some degree of certainty on the areas we want you to lead. We are a bit structured-minded at FounderNest : ) (you’ll see that when you meet us) so we have grouped them in three main buckets:
Hiring: people excellence starts with bringing the best talent. This includes owning the entire hiring processing: from collecting each area’s needs and defining a hiring forecast to identifying candidates in creative ways and doing their onboarding when hired.
Culture shaping and people excellence: this comes down to the goal of having the best environment for each team member to thrive. It includes key responsibilities such: (1) owning our employee performance appraisal, (2) owning comp & benefits (including being up to date with market trends), (3) seeking feedback from teams in order to improve their engagement & performance; or (4) leading events and offsites for the company.
Admin: you won’t be alone in this. We work with a law firm and a “gestoría” and they do the heavy-lifting (you’ll just need to communicate with them.) We also hope that you will support the company when needing to look for an office or handling more general IT-related tasks.
What you will bring

Here is a bit more flavor on what we are looking for:
3+ years of HR experience, ideally with a high-growth startup and with relevant experience in identifying and hiring top talent across engineering and product.
You are at a point in your career where you want to lead the People Ops function. Yet, you don’t mind rolling up your sleeves.
Passion for building a diverse and inclusive working environment.
Solid knowledge in all areas of HR and employment law (Spanish is a must, US is a bonus.)
Experience with remote-first work cultures is a bonus.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
Highly structured, analytical, creative and love to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Natural leadership skills. People love working with you.
Talent for mediating challenging interests and finding creative solutions.
Incessant thirst to continuously experiment and learn in an extremely fast-paced environment. You are not afraid of becoming the best version of yourself.
