Department Summary & Job Purpose:
The Department of Psychology and Education seeks a postdoctoral researcher work on prosody and literacy in the Cognition Attention Perception and Speech (CAPS) Lab, run by Dr. Mara Breen. This is a 2-year, benefitted position.
The position is funded by a grant from the NIH Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to investigate the role of neurocognitive markers of metric structure in explaining the relationship between reading comprehension ability and prosodic fluency (R15HD109686). The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the research: collecting behavioral, eye-tracking, and event-related potential (ERP) data; training and supervising undergraduate research assistants; performing data coding and analysis; and writing papers and conference talks.
- PhD in Psychology, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to the academic support and mentoring of undergraduate students, including those who are underrepresented in STEM.
