Responsible for the purchase of various types of material, equipment, supplies, and services for new hotels construction and operating hotels as needed, in a manner consistent with Drury Hotels standards of excellence and cost effectiveness.
Locate, screen, and qualify vendors and determine their suitability to conduct business in accord with company needs and requirements.
Analyze market and logistics in order to assess present and future material availability.
Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders as needed.
Represent company in negotiating contracts with vendors.
Review and evaluate specifications for issuing and awarding contracts.
Perform evaluations of potential new products through company established testing process.
Resolve vendor issues and customer claims in expeditious and appropriate manner per policy.
Prepare reports regarding market conditions and material costs.
Forecast, plan, and purchase needed hotel operating supplies in a timely and cost efficient manner with the use of SAP MRP and forecasting software resulting in meeting demand with minimal inventory investment.
Attend trade shows and conferences as required.
Train, develop, and supervise direct report team members. Assist in goal-setting, and provide feedback on a continual basis. Conduct annual performance review, and offer guidance and support on work-related issues on an as-needed basis.
Conduct all activities in accordance with budgetary guidelines and company policies and procedures.
General Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Education: Required – Bachelor degree.
Skills: Knowledge and experience with:
Principles and practices of supervision and management.
Purchasing concepts and techniques.
Principles of customer service.
Effective negotiation techniques.
Basic budget development and monitoring.
Standard English usage and grammar.
Experience: Seven or more years of purchasing experience and proven experience leading a team of purchasing professionals.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Operational knowledge of DHC – Hotel Management experience a strong plus.
Understand basics of purchasing process.
Possess the knowledge or ability to learn about a wide spectrum of products regarding their specifications, application, and performance expectations.
Ability to read and understand engineering and architectural drawings.
Able to effectively use excel software.
Effective management skills.
