Job Description

Apply excellent in-depth problem-solving skills from a user-centric approach.

Synthesize user needs, business factors, corporate strategy, research insights, future trends, and company branding into design results.

Develop creative and innovative product concepts and designs under the authorship of HAY brand.

Contribute to a robust front end of product development by participating in early exploration experiments.

Design product extensions, improvements, and modifications for existing product lines.

Design product solutions in collaboration with product categories, product development, and sourcing teams.

Produce design documents or artifacts as required to execute product development.

Work with cross-functional teams to develop designs that respond to time, budget, and operational constraints.

Lead, direct, and managesthe HAY Product Design team and the work of internal and external resources.

Partner with Product Development to review prototypes and execute needed refinements.

Proactively drive exploration in new materials, processes, and trends relative to furnishings.

Serve as the design lead within the project team for assigned projects.

Respond to HAY creative direction to align all designs with brand design tenets.

Represent HAY design to stakeholders in informal situations.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we’re looking for if you have . . .

A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or a related field.

10+ years of experience as a professional designer with significant experience in furnishings.

Two years of experience in project leadership and leading a team.

Passion for design and its positive impact on users as well as business.

Strong collaborative team skills.

The ability to advance early stage projects and concepts in the absence of refined criteria.

The ability for in-depth problem identification and translation into desirable, viable, and feasible design results.

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a broad range of internal and external customers.

Systemic thinking skills, business acumen, and a holistic perspective.

Experience with and ability to effectively use digital software and tools used in the design, engineering, and office environment.
