Mechanical Product Engineer Job Description We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical for our Cedar Rapids, Iowa office to provide product leadership on multiple circuit breaker product lines. -Responsible for engineering and project administration activities related to specific circuit breaker product families. -Perform engineering analyses, including thermal, electromagnetic, dynamic, and structural, using experience applying basic engineering principles. -Ensure compliance with specific ratings, product specifications, and standards requirements. -Participate in cross-functional teams with Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, and procurement functions. -Participate in Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEA). -Support design activities, such as brainstorming, database management and development, design/peer reviews, and general analysis, including tolerance analysis, using experience with basic machine design. -Ensure products meet requirements for Design for Manufacturing (DFM). -Responsible for the creation of CAD models and drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and certifications, using CAD/CAM software and experience with Bill of Material (BOM) creation, modification, and documentation. -Validate First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and pilot run reviews. Requirements: -Travel 5-10% to customer sites and manufacturing plants. -Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field -Must have knowledge of: Design for Manufacturing (DFM); Bill of Material (BOM) creation, modification, and documentation; basic engineering principles; basic machine design; and CAD/CAM software. If you do not necessarily meet all the requirements that are listed, we still encourage you to apply for the position. – 2-3 years of relevant experience in electromechanical mass production industries (e. g. electrical distribution products, automotive, electro domestic products, sensors and actuators, etc.). Leadership, communication and people skills. – Experience and/or training in CREO or similar CAD software. Have a firm understanding of engineering documentation and drawing standards.
