Job Description

Position summary:

Under the supervision and guidance of the Engineering Manager, the Product Engineer’s task is to design and develop parts as well as maintain the parts database and records. Moreover, the Product Engineer needs to identify solutions for customers, either based on existing parts or for development, while keeping a focus on the financial feasibility, quality, reliability, safety and sustainability of the solution. Furthermore, the Product Engineer needs to manage projects from the concept and detail of the design, to presentations to customers, through to implementation, testing and finally handover.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design new connectors, check the requirements of the customer and suggest an existing option or start from scratch
  • Complete Engineering estimates, connector checklists, and SCR documents
  • Design parts or modify existing products to meet customer needs/requests
  • Create product development schedule for new projects
  • Compile and/or create drawings, connector specifications and design documents (DFMEA, Finite Element Analysis, etc.)
  • Conduct connector design review and evaluation
  • Create complete design reports
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales to conduct product presentations to customers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product issues * Collaborate with Quality department, including Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to troubleshoot and resolve issues * Support Outside Sales department to get technical data and provide related part and product information * Support the Outside Sales department to identify correct solutions for customers with off- the-shelf parts according to their requirements * Collaborate with customers and IRISO headquarter management to develop new parts and improve existing parts

Your profile:


  • At least 1-3 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with mechanical / electromechanical components
  • Knowledge of and experience with FMEA (design & process)
  • Formal PPAP training and certification preferred
  • Formal APQP training and certification preferred

Required skills:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English and German (Japanese is a plus)
  • Technical capacity to learn parts and applications
  • Strong customer service skillset
  • Ability to understand drawings and think in 3D
  • Proficiency in Solidworks (or other CAD software)
