The Role

Reporting to the Head of Data Science, the Program Manager – Data will be responsible for defining the strategy, driving data requirements, and delivering products that are powered by data science and data modelling across all of ApplyBoard. You will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, Product, Engineering, Business Strategy, Talent and HR to define and address business challenges and the proper data solutions. The solutions can range from internal data dashboards to NLP/ML based products for internal use.


Work with the Head of Data Science to develop the long-term strategy and vision for Data science and analytics

Keep all stakeholders focused on project goals, purpose and outcomes and be confident in holding stakeholders to account for their deliverable.

Track progress and review project tasks to make sure certain deadlines are met according to the set acceptance criteria.

Managing communications with stakeholders and the champion/sponsor

Help develop and maintain data analytics road map

Develop econometric modeling and simulations/forecasts applied to marketing optimization, campaign segmentation, pricing optimization and customer lifetime value analyses to support client engagements.

Develop data products to the address various internal business problems

Analyze data to generate graphics for use in internal presentations.

Provide expert knowledge around managing Sprint planning sessions, JIRA EPIC/Story creation, Story elaboration sessions, Daily scrum meetings, Sprint Reviews/Demonstrations and Retrospectives

Manage and assess appropriate internal and external resources and specialists as required


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent

6 years of program management preferably in relation to data science.

3 years in a leadership experience.

Demonstrated knowledge in data Science and analysis products

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and mediation skills

Must be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels and to influence change

Well-rounded skill set comprised of a blend of business and technical acumen

Solid understanding of Data Science/Business Intelligence and Document Management principles.

Experience with designing and assigning business success metrics

Experience with Business Glossary and data lineage tools

Experience with Data Quality Analysis tools

Familiarity with ML applications

Knowledge with GDPR and PIPEDA legislation

Demonstrated ability in technical and business writing, particularly policies and standards

Proven ability to organize and structure business data by using data models, data dictionaries and data definitions.

Experience with defining and supporting data-cleansing initiatives

Customer-focused, team player with a desire to continuously improve current business practices/processes

Ability to see the big picture while defining and resolving details

Experience in the creation and delivery of training material and presentations

Preferred qualifications:

Masters’ degree in any of STEM disciplines or a equivalent degree in management science.

Experience with NLP applications for Customer Experience

Experience with chatbots
