Production, by incorporating standardized systems and workflows, manages the process of producing content with good and consistent quality metadata in order to support our rote as an ePublisher. This allows our global audiences to use our products through a variety of reading devices, both electronic and paper. We work with vendors that incorporate our workflows, automate processes wherever possible, follow standardized procedures and create our content in full text XML which is the essential foundation for producing materials that can be utilized in the electronic environment.

We are looking for a Project Coordinator (m/f/d) for our Book Production department with following profile:

Purpose of the job:
Ensure timely and high-quality book publications within the Springer Research Group framework of policies and production standards

Tasks and responsibilities:
Coordinate and monitor the complete print and online book publication process of a designated book projects portfolio throughout all stages — post-acquisition, production, post-publication – in close cooperation with our full-service vendors.

Job requirements:
Experience in book production and cooperating with acquisition editors and (mostly offshore/lndian) full-service vendors

Solid understanding of print and online publishing formats & tools (XML, HTML, ePub)

Experience with MS-office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and G-Suite (Google Cloud), LaTeX and PDF

Very good spoken and written command of English and German

Ability to work effectively in a highly complex, diverse and changing environment

Strong problem solving and organizational skills, i.e. priority orientation

Ability to handle multiple and diverse projects at the same time

Adherence to schedules and quality also when under time pressure

Interest in content & process management and workflow systems and their optimization

Keeping up-to-date with procedural and technical upgrades

Mentoring and supporting vendor staff, and guide authors and editors as well as publishing colleagues on policies and production standards (copyediting, typesetting, printing)
