Under general supervision, the Receptionist provides first point-of-contact services to the public, performs reception duties, provides information and directs citizen enquiries, and coordinates internal mail delivery services. While performing front-facing tasks with the public, the incumbent will ensure the customer service standards of the Municipality are always met, whether interaction is on the phone or in-person.

Greet visitors and provide front counter reception support to internal and external clients.

Promptly, accurately, and courteously respond to enquiries, direct incoming calls, and record/deliver messages.

Maintain a record of incoming and outgoing mail for the branch or department.

Maintain and answer/direct enquiries for multiple email accounts.

Operate a variety of common office equipment.

Data entry and filing.

Maintain a stock of stationery and general office supplies and keep records of supplies ordered and delivered.

Ensure adherence to any organizational or departmental procedures and guidelines applicable to tasks being completed.

Maintain confidentiality of information and material.

Schedule meetings as required.

Assist in preparing documents and reports as required.

Occasionally provide relief support for other support staff as required.

Perform other related duties as required.


Ability to provide exceptional customer services and deal effectively with a diverse range of people, sometimes in conflict situations.

Ability to enter and maintain data accurately.

Ability to exercise confidentiality and discreetness with applicable client and organizational information at all times.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and the use of standard office equipment.

Proven ability to work independently in an organized and time sensitive environment.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative, collaborative, and productive work relationships.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Certificate in Office or Business Administration is an asset.

One (1) year of directly related experience is required.

Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check for review and acceptance.
