Position Summary:

Natera is seeking a SEC Reporting Manager to join our Accounting team! This position can be based in San Carlos, CA (HQ) or Austin, TX and will report to our Corporate Controller. Uses a formal process to gather, consolidate, and analyze financial data relative to the preparation of required regulatory filings, including but not limited to 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements and the annual report. Will be responsible for preparing documents required by government and regulatory agencies (US SEC, EU, FASB) for external financial reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

Prepares and manages quarterly, annual, and periodic SEC filings

Prepares both internal and external financial statements (including BS, P&L, SoCF), monthly reporting, footnotes, and audit schedules

Responsible for XBRL tagging of Form 10-Q and Form 10-K

Researches and writes technical accounting memos

Serves as a subject matter expert on US GAAP and SEC regulations for the preparation and filing of SEC reports

Manages the Sarbanes-Oxley process, including updating internal documentation and managing the Company’s SOX consultants and external auditors

Assists with identifying process improvements, implementing changes, and ensuring best practices

Reviews financial information within presentations and press releases

Assists with accounting research, including assessment of new accounting standards on the financial statements and disclosures

Assists with coordinating quarterly audit PBCs and providing accounting support to external auditors

Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

CPA license required

Minimum of five (8) years of relevant accounting experience, including Public Accounting experience

Previous experience working directly in SEC reporting with strong knowledge of filing requirements and hands-on preparation experience

Experience in a biotechnology / life sciences a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of GAAP Accounting relevant to the life sciences industry a plus

Proven ability to research and resolve technical accounting issues and SEC reporting matters

Must be a self-starter with excellent analytical skills

Excellent quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills, time and project management, and communication skills required

Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are a must

Experience with stock-based compensation and revenue recognition relevant to the life science industry preferred

Prior experience with requirements of SOX 404 and a SOX oversight role preferred

Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Strong organizational and time management skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Duties are typically performed in an office setting. This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material

Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times to meet deadlines

Travel: Occasional. Less than 15%
