Purpose of Position:
Assists the Bank’s Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers/Bankers on the largest and most complex corporate, professional, executive, commercial and commercial real estate credit relationships through independent commercial credit analysis and preparing written presentations (credit memorandums, credit requests, and/or completion of annual reviews) for credit approval. Independently completes commercial credit analysis and written presentations for less complex loan requests to recommend approval, denial, or alternative structures and notes any deviations from the Commercial Loan Policy as appropriate. Works directly with Commercial Loan Officers to discuss issues and ask questions and with minimal guidance from the Portfolio Manager.
Direct underwriting of existing and new credit exposures for Commercial, Business, Private Banking, and CRE opportunities.
Spreads and analyzes financial reports including but not limited to year-end financial statements, personal financial statements, interim financial statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable agings from the loan officers, borrowers or borrowers’ accountants.
Strong time management skills and the ability to successfully work on multiple analytical assignments without loss in quality. Responsible for independently managing: spread workflow, underwriting workflow, deadlines.
Strong self-confidence at all levels of conversation with the ability to assertively defend analytical decisions.
Developed knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques.
Demonstrated ability to gather, consolidate, analyze, and summarize data to provide well-considered recommendations for all levels of commercial credit relationships.
Ability to identify and quantify subtle business risks and the ability to identify key drivers of credit risk and succinctly focus presentation thereupon. Prepares written detailed analyses, presents these facts and offers opinions concerning credit-worthiness of borrowers.
Participates in discussions with and/or calls to existing customers or potential customers.
Attends and participates in various committee meetings.
Keeps abreast of current trends within the industry by maintaining peer relationships, attending seminars, workshops, and reading industry periodicals.
Completes portfolio management tasks as assigned by Portfolio Manager including (but not limited to) reduction of past due loans, timely renewals, minimizing reporting exceptions, monitoring and testing financial covenants, and monitoring collateral exceptions.
Serves as back up to Portfolio Manager. May provide day-to-day supervision and support of lower-level analysts during this time.
Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Work Experience Requirements:
6 to 8 years of credit analysis experience in a financial institution or regulatory agency that includes analysis of complex credits and composing analytical reports.
Ability to analyze credits based on tax returns.
Formal credit training
Strong knowledge of collateral and credit documentation and borrowing entity structure.
B.S./B.A. in accounting, finance or general business.
