Your main duties :
As an Senior Engineer (MV), you will be responsible for drafting all technical matters of a medium voltage projects from preliminary design up to preparation of as-manufactured or as-built drawings as per the relavant standards. Perform various engineering duties requiring the exercise of judgment and application of standard engineering principles and practices. Pursue initiatives to improve effectiveness of the group and increase customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your focus will be on optimizing the manufacturing process through innovation in a cost effective way. Prepare and draft all technical matters of a medium voltage projects from preliminary design up to preparation of as-manufactured or as-built drawings as per the guidance of Design Activity Team Manager or Senior Electrical Design Engineer.
Execute electrical designs to be on time and on budget using company systems and tools
Define technically the job by reviewing the customers requirements and specifications.
Implement tailor-made solutions that stick the closest to the needs while working towards optimizing company’s existing standard supply.
Prepare BOM for the job.
Prepare production file with applicable checklist.
Prepare and issue job-based fabrication file request to mechanical section.
Effective use of design tools like E-Plan, AutoCAD etc
Perform general electrical design activities for projects
Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums
Support business opportunities and assist in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.)
What we are looking for:
Minimum 5-7 years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role
BSc, BEng or B. Tech in Engineering or National Diploma (or equivalent)
Minimum of 5-7 years design experience in the medium voltage systems
Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and in-house engineering programmes.
Good knowledge of IEC and SANS standards
Arc flash studies
Protection coordination analysis and reporting
Good verbal, written, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Good organizational, administration and time management skills
Can work under pressure
Can handle multiple projects at the same time
