Hi, we’re Oscar. Were hiring a Senior Manager to join our Insurance Operations team in our Tempe office.

About the role:

The Insurance Operations team is entrusted with several business units that all come together to enhance the experience of our Members and Providers across the states and markets in which we operate. We are rapidly scaling our operations and we are looking for experienced leaders to help drive that effort. When you come in, you will help lead back office operational functions in building best-in-class lean processes, managing cross-functional stakeholders, and leveraging technology to drive automation, speed, and quality. You will lead a strong team of high performing individuals to ensure they have the necessary support, and are empowered to continue to move the needle for our members and provider partners.

Collaboration is the key to our growth and this role will interact heavily with all of the key stakeholder functions at Oscar including the Risk, Network, Clinical, Concierge, Population Health, Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams. Ideally, you have remarkable experience leading a tech-driven service organization and a notable track record of improving operational metrics and customer experience. Additionally, you must be a systematic thinker and just get things done. Experience in owning, driving and improving operational processes is a must.

You will report into the Director of Insurance Operations.

Responsibilities:

Develop a thorough understanding of the operations ecosystem (incl. the underlying technology) as well as current strengths, weaknesses, and gaps

Participate in OKR / KPI planning – Set aggressive and meaningful goals, then empower the team to achieve them

Embody Oscars vision of customer-orientation and lean production

Engage and successfully lead the current members of the team

Build relationships with cross-functional company stakeholders (youll be collaborating with a wide range of teams, as well as the Oscar leadership team)

Lead the team to build and implement measurable, repeatable, scalable, and predictable processes

Drive continuous improvement to enable the organization to scale efficiently and effectively

Requirements

7+ years of operating experience, leading teams in a complex environment, with a track record of consistent quality and efficiency improvements

Strong sense of urgency and a bias for action; you thrive in fast-paced environments

Ability to thoughtfully succession plan and manage talent – build, coach, and develop elite teams

Highly systematic thinking as demonstrated by prior work or experience (lean operations, consulting, MBA, project management, etc)

Experience improving workflows and building teams that scale, implementing large-scale process improvements, and utilizing a lean / efficient management approach

A strong technical aptitude as well as strong Excel and an understanding of SQL based operations

Experience successfully running a large team of front-line operators

Strong interpersonal interactions (e.g. partnering, conflict management, consulting, etc.) and open to giving / receiving constructive feedback
