As a Sr. Software (SW) Engineer within Paramit’s Product Development Group, you will lead embedded SW development efforts for controlling life science instrumentation, medical devices, diagnostic tools and point-of-care devices. You will also work closely with Firmware (FW) engineers to establish robust architecture, communication protocols and integration/test plans. The FW-SW Engineering Group owns several critical aspects of every project such as architecture, breadboard control applications, instrument control FW/SW, data/signal analysis algorithms, user interfaces (UI), test programs and field support applications.
As a product development firm, our primary focus is to help our clients develop and commercialize cutting edge technology and products. Our clients range from young start-ups to well-established companies. Projects are typically fast-paced, technically diverse and rely on a close-knit, interdisciplinary team comprised of a Technical Project Manager, Industrial Designers and engineers from a variety of disciplines: Systems, Mechanical, Optical, Electrical, Consumables, FW and SW. These teams work with Paramit’s world class manufacturing group to seamlessly transition our client’s products into manufacturing using our transfer-less process, which results in reduced time-to-market and fewer issues.
Design, implement and test embedded SW for controlling life science instrumentation, medical devices, diagnostic tools and point-of-care devices
Document software requirements and design for every new development project.
Participate in SW architecture development and risk mitigation activities, code reviews, system bring-up, integration, test, debug and verification activities
Assist in early stage feasibility and prototype testing through the generation of Python scripting environments and command line interface tools on Linux or Windows
Ensure that all SW requirements and specifications are being met and that all SW elements are being developed to maximize performance, reliability and serviceability within the constraints of the project schedule and budget
Mentor less experienced engineers
EXPERIENCE& EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in life science instrumentation or diagnostic/medical device development.
A high degree of energy, motivation, creativity, and resourcefulness
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated success working in multidisciplinary team environments
Proficiency with state driven event based architectures as well as OOAD patterns and techniques
Proficiency writing applications for embedded Linux, real time operating systems or Windows Embedded/IoT
Strong background in C# development
Proficiency with software configuration management, prefer GIT
Experience with design control under ISO 9001/13485 and experience with SW risk management
Extremely hands on, as an individual contributor, whether it be defining system architecture, code development, integration, debugging or verification testing
Passionate about creating robust solutions in a fast paced exciting environment where team collaboration is essential
