Job Description:

WORKEXPERIENCE:Atleast fiveyearsof management experience in a complex, large format store

EDUCATION:Bachelor’sdegreein relevant field of study or equivalentyearsof relatedworkexperiencerequired

SOME DUTIES:

Primary Objective:Provide leadershiptoa store in order to achieve customer service, associate engagement and profitability goals.

Oversees anassignedstore to inspire andleadassociates while driving sales

Drives customer service through leading by example and providing handsoncustomer service training

Serves as the primary communication channeltostore associatesonpolicies, procedures and sales opportunities

Conveys Academy’s entrepreneurial and sales oriented culturetocapture and preserve market share

Maximizes employee retention through utilization of best practices in hiring and mentoring

Manages store operations including supply chain, merchandising, maintenance, inventory control, loss prevention, treasury andriskmanagement

Drives in-store training processes to provide excellent customer service, associate product knowledge, process understanding andriskmanagement

Provides strategic regional merchandise insightstoAcademy’s merchant organization from personal insights and customer feedback

Drives store profitability by driving sales and managing expenses including payroll, maintenance, shrink and other controllable expenses

Provides strategic insightsonregional attributes relatedtocompetition, economic trends, marketing opportunities and other variables

Participates in Academy’s budgeting process by assisting in the development of sales objectives

Oversees the performance management and career-pathing process forassignedstore to ensure career development goals are met

Fosters Academy’s community involvementtodrive sales and customer awareness

About Academy Sports & Outdoors, Ltd



Academy Sports + Outdoors is an American sporting goods discount store chain. Academy carries an extensive line of name-brand equipment and clothing and shoes for competitive sports, physical fitness training, and outdoor recreational activities such as camping, hunting, fishing, and boating. Academys company headquarters are located in Katy, Texas, outside Houston. For 74 years it was a privately held company owned by the Gochman family, until its May 2011 acquisition by the long-time Wall Street investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts. Academy operates about 225 stores throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Academy Sports & Outdoors came into existence in 1938, when Arthur Gochman and his business partner purchased Southern Sales, a San antonio-based army-navy surplus chain comprising six stores that were by that year no longer making any profit. At the time, Gochman was a practicing attorney in San Antonio. He had not been formally educated as a businessman, but he had learned much about the surplus retail business from his father, Max Gochman, who had owned a surplus goods outlet in San Antonio and in 1935 still owned and operated a small chain of stores in Austin.
