Unity Allerdale and Copeland Alcohol and Drug team are recruiting to the post of STR worker based in the Whitehaven office with some travel to Workington and other sites across the path as required. This is a 37.5 hour post


The successful applicant will be joining an experienced multi-disciplinary team based in both Whitehaven and Workington.

With the support of this dedicated team, Unity has gone from strength to strength, delivering high quality services to those affected by substance misuse.

The service offers, assessment, detox, prescribing, BBV screening and immunization, needle exchange, group work, psychosocial interventions, 1:1 interventions and much more to people affected by their addiction.

The role within Unity alcohol and drug services is to offer advice, information, advocacy and support to substance misusers accessing or seeking to access the service, through a variety of routes, including open access, primary care, mental health services and criminal justice agencies. You will provide a range of interventions, dependent on the needs of the service user, significant others and the wider community. You will be part of running a variety of groups within the service and supporting people to continue with their recovery

The successful candidate will have good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, sometimes challenging environment.

Training may be provided where there are knowledge gaps in substance misuse.
