About the role
We’re looking for a Submarine SME to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The User Acceptance Group (UAG) is responsible for defining the user requirements for new facilities that will enable both fleet time and deep maintenance activities to be undertaken in Devonport. The scope now includes, in addition to new facilities, the requirements for the upgrade of current facilities including the continuing use of 15 dock and for the defuel programme in 14 dock.
The UAG team is expanding and is seeking to fill a variety of roles across a broad discipline front and seek subject matter experts in nuclear submarine operations and maintenance and/or nuclear facility upkeep. Experience and knowledge of the ASTUTE Class submarine is particularly desirable but not mandatory.
The applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be involved with all aspects of UAG operations. These posts focus on the development of the new A Class facilities and upgrade to the SRC in support of both Fleet time dockings and LUSM programmes working for a UAG lead. Specific experience and knowledge covering the following areas should be described in the covering letter;
Fleet and non-fleet time submarine maintenance.
Background in production specific roles is desirable
SRC facility operations and management
What do I need to do the role?
You will need to hold an Engineering qualification in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience
What else do I need to know?
You should hold or have the ability to obtain SC clearance
